I think I read in a post that hs4 works best between 500-700hz Sure it would be nice if all this worked flawlessly, but sometimes there is a hiccup and I try to avoid them lol The other reason is If you use cw, I do not copy cw very well by ear or tx cw with a key, but do not worry about your fist I use cw skimmer also and it copies a human fist very well, as fldigi has a lower quality cw decoder and unless you have a good fist, It may not decode you very well so use psk31 if you can! Why? I have my digital mode rig mic gain, volumes sound devices ect… and apps loaded and setup for the event, if I start changing configs for audio, then I have to readjust settings or reboot sometimes. Keep in mind though Please, use a digital mode! cw is fine but psk31 with a 600hz offset is best. I'm on frequency 30-60 minutes prior and normally monitor a few minutes after, unless I have to go, then of course you will get no response to your call.sorry I missed you! If you want to make a contact from this state then this is a good time to catch me. This transmission normally runs about 1-4 hours depending on mode and speed.
If the light blinks at a frequency that is too fast or too slow (using the default transmission settings as a comparison) expect to lose the first 2 characters, but after that, the decoding algorithm will adapt itself to the new frequency and you will lose NO.
